There are a lot of mysteries that are yet to be unraveled in this world. Imagine a whole settlement disappearing and only leaving the word “CROATOAN” carved on wood. I think maybe they mixed with the local tribes to survive, and the story just got lost over time. But still, it’s one of the most fearful stories. Every time I read about it, I picture how quiet that colony must have been when the rescue arrived.
